Grants & Accountability

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity uses an accountability program to take a customer-centered approach to grants management and monitoring.  The agency, which administers and oversees nearly 10,000 grants each fiscal year, manages various economic, community and workforce development programs, services, and initiatives.  The Department of Commerce partners with businesses, local governments, nonprofit organizations, workers and families to enhance the state’s economy.

The Department of Commerce values diligent grant management and monitoring as over 95 percent of the agency’s budget is allocated to grant programs.  Our partners and grant recipients must produce results in order for the agency to achieve economic development success at the state level.  The Department of Commerce is committed to making the management and monitoring processes a standard of excellence for grant accountability.
