2008 Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Program (DR-1800 IKE)

The Consolidated Security, Disaster Assistance, and Continuing Appropriations Act, 2009 (Pub. Law 110-329), enacted on September 30, 2008, appropriated $6.5 billion through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program for “necessary expenses related to disaster relief, long-term recovery, and restoration of infrastructure, housing, and economic revitalization in areas affected by hurricanes, floods, and other natural disasters occurring during 2008 for which the President declared a major disaster.” The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) was designated by Congress as the administering agency. On November 28, 2008 HUD made an initial allocation to Illinois. The State was notified of a second allocation on August 14, 2009 as published in the Federal Register (FR-5336-N-01).
