Weatherization State Plan

PUBLIC NOTICE

The Illinois Department of Commerce, Office of Community Assistance will hold a public hearing from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2026. If there are no participants in the meeting in the first 15 minutes, the public hearing will be concluded.

The purpose of this hearing is to receive comments on the 2026 State Weatherization Plan which is for the 2027 Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program (IHWAP).  This plan is a part of the State's application for federal weatherization assistance funding to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). 

The U.S. Department of Energy has announced the desire to provide funding for FFY2026 weatherization services in the State of Illinois.  This DOE funding will be available from the period of July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. 

The Plan is available for public inspection at the Department of Commerce's Weatherization Program website.  View the 2026 DOE Weatherization plan.

Note: The official application instruction guidance has yet to be released by The Department of Energy Weatherization Assistance Program.  The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has drafted the Weatherization Plan based on previous guidance; edits may be required upon receipt of the 2026 application instructions.
