State Small Business Credit Initiative Technical Assistance (SSBCI TA) Program
The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s (DCEO) Office of Economic Equity and Empowerment (OE3), through funding from the U.S. Department of Treasury, is implementing the State Small Business Credit Initiative Technical Assistance (SSBCI TA) Program to support Very Small Businesses (VSBs) and Socially and Economically Disadvantaged Individuals (SEDI-owned businesses) across the state.
Through this program, the Department issued subawards to five (5) qualified subrecipients to deliver technical assistance services in the areas of legal, accounting, and financial advisory to VSBs and SEDI-owned businesses located across the State of Illinois. A sixth (6th) subrecipient that will cover Region 4: North is in the process of being awarded and will be announced at a later date.
The purpose of the SSBCI TA Grant Program is to help small businesses—especially those owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals—overcome systemic barriers to capital access by offering targeted technical assistance. Services include but are not limited to business formation support, corporate governance assistance, licensing and registration aid, financial planning and documentation, legal contract preparation, and assistance with federal and state program applications.
