State Small Business Credit Initiative Technical Assistance (SSBCI TA) Program

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s (DCEO) Office of Economic Equity and Empowerment (OE3), through funding from the U.S. Department of Treasury, is implementing the State Small Business Credit Initiative Technical Assistance (SSBCI TA) Program to support Very Small Businesses (VSBs) and Socially and Economically Disadvantaged Individuals (SEDI-owned businesses) across the state.

Through this program, the Department has issued subawards to four (4) qualified subrecipients to provide technical assistance services, including legal, accounting, and financial advising, to VSBs and SEDI-owned businesses seeking to access federally funded loans across the State of Illinois. A fifth (5) subrecipient, responsible for Region 4: North, will be announced in early August.

Note: The previous Region 1 SSBCI TA subrecipient is no longer providing SSBCI TA services. The Department will announce a replacement in the coming months.

The purpose of the SSBCI TA Grant Program is to help small businesses—especially those owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals—overcome systemic barriers to capital access by offering targeted technical assistance. Services include but are not limited to business formation support, corporate governance assistance, licensing and registration aid, financial planning and documentation, legal contract preparation, and assistance with federal and state program applications.
