Connect Illinois Rounds 1 - 3

Connect Illinois is an equity-focused broadband infrastructure program targeting areas of greatest need, particularly underserved rural areas and communities of color. By addressing market failures where private investment has favored population dense, profitable areas, the program aimed to bridge the broadband access gap. Competitive grants drive public-private investment and support scalable, future-proof infrastructure. With a community-driven, technology-neutral approach, Connect Illinois has fostered collaboration, promoted affordability, and continues to align with the state’s five-year economic plan to advance broadband equity and innovation statewide. So far, the Illinois Office of Broadband has awarded $387 million+ and connected roughly 47,000 locations over three waves of funding.
