Illinois Digital Equity Capacity Grant
On May 9, 2025, the U.S. Department of Commerce terminated the federal Digital Equity Act grant funds, leading to the cancellation, pause, or delay of many digital equity programs. The Illinois Office of Broadband remains committed to the cause of digital equity, and will continue to work to reach a state where all Illinoisans have access to the quality and affordable broadband access, devices, and skills they need to thrive. Please stay tuned for updates and email broadband@illinois.gov with any questions.
Goals of the IDEC
The goal of the Illinois Digital Equity Capacity Grant (IDEC) grant program is to ensure that all people and communities across Illinois have the skills, technology, and capacity needed to reap the full benefits of our digital economy. Illinois is set to receive more than $30 million to achieve its digital equity goals over the next five years.
The IDEC grant program is specifically aligned with activities and goals identified in the State Digital Equity Plan in order to increase digital equity and support digital inclusion activities to benefit all Illinoisans.
