Quantum Enterprise Zone Program
Through the Quantum Enterprise Zone (QEZ) program, Governor Pritzker and the General Assembly are supporting quantum companies located, expanding, or relocating to Illinois. The QEZ program is designated to recognize public-private partnerships forming collaborative campuses in economically underserved areas to address the growing demand for practical quantum computing. Additionally, the program provides tenants of a designated quantum campus with tax benefits to ease investments and operational costs.
This program builds on the DCEO’s mission to create inclusive economic opportunities across Illinois. In the State’s 2024 Five-Year Economic Growth Plan, DCEO identified quantum and microelectronics as a priority high-growth industry. In 2024, the General Assembly allocated $500 million over five years for infrastructure and R&D facilities at the Illinois Quantum Microelectronics Park (IQMP). The IQMP is one more key asset in Illinois’ thriving, globally competitive quantum ecosystem, allowing quantum companies to co-locate to foster competitive research and development. The IQMP will create thousands of jobs and attract billions in private investment, all while creating jobs and opportunities on Chicago’s South Side. The QEZ program will support projects of all sizes at quantum computing campuses like the IQMP.
